Great antique barber chair by Emil J Paidar of Chicago. Chair is in good working condition, retains spring head rest and foot rest. Older red naugahyde upholstery which does need to be changed. I have a local upholsterer who could do this work if desired (extra fee). This is estate fresh! Heavy duty chair of cast iron and porcelain. This has the very rare confetti porcelain finish. An off white background with red and green flecks of color all over. There is some hits to porcelain but none major and all are in harder to see areas (see condition report and ask for additional photos).
The chair is approx 400 lbs. I do have a loading dock at my business (can be picked up by buyer) . I will be listing this as $500 shipping but will gladly work with the shipper of your choice. I use Pilot Freight for many items like this and they are very affordable and efficient.
Condition report: both arms have 2 minor chips to porcelain along bottom edge
the handle for tilting seat and raising has loss of porcelain if a few larger spots (most noticeable of damage)
back of post there is strip of porcelain loss, post rotates so in the rear its not noticeable at all :O)
minor flecks along base of chair, fluted or paneled by the way
chrome is in good general condition for age, i believe most will buff out nicely, the footrest area has chrome plating loss which is extremely common as these items were used, there are two casting weld repairs at elbow of foot rest done sometime in chairs life
~please note we have been antique dealers for nearly 40 years and will over describe pieces to the benefit of our customers instead of missing something
So in all our years of handling antique barber chairs (we used to ship them to california for movies decades ago) I have only seen the confetti finish on one other Paidar chair. This might have been a special order finish. Now that these chairs are used in tattoo shops can you imagine this chair reupholstered in an eye catching naugahyde color to go with red/green confetti porcelain!
THE SWIVEL IS WORKING ON CHAIR, RECLINE ALSO WORKING, HYDRAULIC LIFT IS WORKING BUT VERY SLOWLY (probably needs cleaning and new hydraulic fluid)
